Yaşlı Bakım Öğrencilerinin Yaşlılara Yönelik Tutumlarının Değerlendirilmesi

Özet

Amaç: Bir devlet üniversitesinde öğrenim gören yaşlı bakımı programı öğrencilerinin yaşlılara yönelik tutumlarının değerlendirilmesidir. Materyal ve Metod: Araştırma bir devlet üniversitesinde yaşlı bakımı programı öğrencileri ile Ekim-Kasım 2022 tarihleri arasında yürütüldü. Kesitsel türde yapılmış olan araştırmanın örneklemini yaşlı bakımı programına kayıtlı olan 245 öğrenci oluşturdu. Verilerin toplanmasında Tanıtıcı Özellikler Formu ve Kogan’ın Yaşlılara Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği kullanıldı. Bulgular: Araştırmada, öğrencilerin yaşlılara yönelik toplam puan ortalamasının 129.95±15.42 olduğu belirlendi. Ölçeğin pozitif alt boyutunda cinsiyetin ve sınıf düzeyinin önemli olduğu belirlendi. Erkek öğrencilerin ve ikinci sınıfta okuyanların daha yüksek olumlu tutumlara sahip oldukları saptandı. Ayrıca haftada bir kez yaşlı bireyle görüşenlerin olumlu tutumlarının daha yüksek olduğu belirlendi. Sonuç: Öğrencilerin yaşlılara yönelik tutumlarının orta düzeyde olumlu yönde olduğu söylenebilir.

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the attitudes of the aged care program students studying at a state university towards the elderly. Material and Method: The research was conducted with aged care program students at a state university between October and November 2022. The sample of the cross-sectional study consisted of 245 students enrolled in the aged care program. The Descriptive Characteristics Form and the Kogan Attitudes towards the Elderly Scale were used to collect data. Results: In the study, it was determined that the total mean score of the students for the elderly was 129.95±15.42. It was determined that gender and class level were important in the positive sub-dimension of the scale. It was determined that male students and second-year students had higher positive attitudes. In addition, it was determined that the positive attitudes of those who met with the elderly person once a week were higher. Conclusions: It can be said that students' attitudes towards the elderly are moderately positive.
