Abstract
In this study; within the framework of the hypothesis of "In the use and design of urban recreation areas, decisions should be developed for the equal accessibility and usability of all individuals with different characteristics"; an answer has been sought for the question "How suitable are the recreation areas in the Buca district of İzmir to the accessibility of disabled people?" For this purpose; It is aimed to evaluate the possibilities of using the recreation areas of the Gölet Recreation Area, Yedigöller Park and Hasanağa Garden in terms of the disabled. The study was developed based on field observations and literature on the subject and supported by visual materials. The features related to accessibility (park entrance, pedestrian path, stairs, ramp, parking lot) were evaluated and questioned in terms of outdoor standards for the disabled. Within the scope of the findings, the problems for the disabled were evaluated and solution suggestions were developed to improve the current situation. As a result, the importance of prioritizing design not only for people with disabilities but also for everyone has been emphasized.
