THE ROLE OF CRIMEAN TATARS IN B. KHMELNYTSKY’S CAMPAIGNS IN 1652-1653

Abstract

This paper deals with the history of relations of the Crimean Khanate with Rzecz Pospolita and Hetmanshchyna in epoch of Khmelnychchyna. The purpose of the research study of military interaction between the Crimean Khanate and Rzecz Pospolita and Hetmanshchyna in the 1652-1653. The novelty of this paper lies in the fact that the author reconstructs the picture of military actions of Crimean Tatars against Rzecz Pospolita, Transylvania, Moldova, Hetmanshchyna. Crimean Tatars have campaigned with Ukrainians for years 1652-1653 in the alliance. Crimean Khan didn’t allow the complete defeat of the Poles in 1653 under Zhvanets, not wanting to overly weaken the Rzeczpospolita. Crimean Tatars participate in the Battle of Batog in 1652 was due to a desire for revenge for the defeat at Beresteczko. Crimean Tatars support Ukrainians in Moldovan campaigns 1650 and 1653.
