Abstract
Ethnomethodology, which started with the work of sociologist Harold Garfinkel, is a concept known as the research of methods used among members of the society. When ethnometodology explores these methods, unlike other sociologists, it determines daily life and the most important element in the functioning of daily life as its starting point. Garfinkel defines methods to document / investigate to try to return to normality, to resort to the principle of similarity, to ensure the reciprocity of perspectives, and to show that social order is not a reality alone, but is created by members of society. Many other ethnometodologists, especially Garfinkel, use the concepts of practical performance / success, indexality, reflexivity, explainability, and members in experiments to determine these methods. In the study, considering the context of the script text (My Father and My Son), one of the basic concepts of ethnomethodology, meaning can be explained with context reference; and trying to return to normal from the methods of the members, applying to the principle of etc. and the conformity of the documentary research method / documentation methods to the 'daily language' were tried to be determined. As a result, the success or appropriateness of Garfinkel's ethnometodology in practice has been confirmed.
