Sinematografik Anlatıda Okuldaki İletişim Ağları: Ron Clark’ın Hikâyesi Filmi Örneği

Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı öğretmen, öğrenci, veli ve müdürün okuldaki iletişim ağlarındaki rollerinin görsel işitsel bir kaynak olan filmlerde nasıl yansıtıldığının incelenmesidir. Bu amaçla Ron Clark’ın Hikâyesi filmi, iletişim ağlarındaki roller temelinde doküman analizi yöntemiyle ele alınmıştır. Yapılan analizler, konu ile ilgili olduğu düşünülen sahnelerin dökümleri üzerinden gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular, filmin senaryosunun okullardaki iletişim ağları rolleri için örnek teşkil ettiğini göstermiştir. On beş sahne dökümünden elde edilen bulgular sonucu, okullarda bulunan iletişim ağları ve bu ağlardaki roller örneklendirilerek şekillerle özetlenmiştir. Yapılan analizlerde film senaryosunda okullarda bulunabilecek iki iletişim ağı modelinin olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bunlardan ilki öğretmen merkezli iletişim ağıdır. Bu model, öğretmenin iletişimin merkezinde yer aldığı ve öğrencilerin grup üyeleri olduğu bir iletişim ağıdır. Film, davranış bozukluğu gösteren öğrencilerin bulunduğu bir sınıfta öğretmenlerin merkezi rolü edinmesinin kolay olmadığını göstermektedir. Okullarda bulunabilecek olan ikinci ağ; müdür merkezli iletişim ağıdır. Bu ağda öğretmenler grup üyeleridir ve okul müdürü merkez roldedir. Her öğretmen, kendi sınıfının öğretmen merkezli ağı ile okulun müdür merkezli ağı arasında köprü rolündedir. Öğretmenler köprü rolleri ile iki iletişim ağının da üyesidirler. Veliler, okullarda öğretmen merkezli ve müdür merkezli iletişim ağları arasında irtibat edici rol görevindedirler. İki iletişim ağı arasında bilgi aktarımını sağlarlar. Sınıflarda bulunan iletişim ağlarında izole edilmiş role sahip öğrenciler bulunabilir. Elde edilen bulgular, öğretmenlerin bu roldeki öğrencileri gerek akademik gerek sosyal iletişim yönlerinden başarıya ulaştırmalarının diğer öğrencileri başarıya ulaştırmalarından daha zor olmakla birlikte mümkün olduğunu göstermiştir. Yapılan bu araştırma öğretmen, öğrenci, müdür ve velinin okuldaki iletişim ağlarındaki rollerini ağ modelleri yolu ile yansıtan ilk araştırma olması, okuldaki iletişim ağlarının görsel işitsel bir yol ile incelenmesine imkân vermesi, film senaryosunun gerçek yaşamdan alınmış olması ve incelenen filmin eğitim konulu bir film olması yönleriyle önemlidir. Araştırma ayrıca; öğretmenlere okullarındaki iletişim ağlarındaki yerlerini sorgulayabilmelerinde bir fırsat olarak görülebilir. Bu anlamda ileride yapılabilecek araştırmalara örnek teşkil edebileceği, öğretmenlere ve öğretmen adaylarına faydalı olabileceği düşünülmektedir.
Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate how the roles of teachers, students, parents and principals in the school communication networks are reflected in movies as a visual and aural resource. In this regard, the movie "the Ron Clark Story" was examined in terms of the roles in the communication networks through document analysis. The analyses were conducted based on the transcriptions of the scenes that were thought to be related to the research phenomenon. The findings showed that the scenario of the movie exhibited an example for the roles in school communication networks. The findings that were obtained from the transcriptions of 15 scenes were summarised by exemplifying the communication networks in schools and the roles that exist in these networks. The analyses of the scenario revealed two models of communication network that can be found in schools. The first of these models is teacher-centred communication network. This model is a network in which the teacher is in the centre of communication and students are group members. The movie showed that it is not easy for teachers to gain the central role in a classroom with misbehaving students. The second model that can be found in schools is principal-centred communication network. In this type of network, teachers are group members and the school principal has the central role. Every teacher serve as a bridge between the teacher-centred network and the principal-centred network of the school. With their bridging role, teachers are the members of both communication networks. Parents have a contact role between the teacher-centred and principal-centred networks. They serve as ensuring the transfer of information between the two communication networks. In communication networks within classrooms, there can be students with an isolated role. The findings showed that it is difficult, though possible, for teachers to enable these students to succeed both academically and socially. This study is of significance since it is the first attempt to reflect the roles of teachers, students, principals and parents in school communication networks through network models, such networks were examine in a visual and aural resource, the movie scenario was inspired from real life, and the movie examined was educational. The study can also be an opportunity for teachers to question their place in their school communication networks. In this respect, it is thought to be an example for further studies, and beneficial for teachers and teacher candidates.
