Abstract
Extendend AbstractIntroductionIn the Primary School Life Information course, students are educated in thename of acquiring social, social, universal and cultural values as well as theirdaily life skills. In this context, students are implicitly passing on valueeducation (Ada and Ünal, 2000; Dönmez and Gençert, 2007, Bicer, 2013). It isimportant for the students to know their perceptions against these values intheir daily lives and to carry out Value Education studies according to thisdata (Bakaç, 2013).The purpose of this study is to develop a valid andreliable scale to detect the perceptions of the students who are trying to beacquired in an implicit way in the Life Science course, and to use this scale inthe Life Science lessons.MethodThe Life Science curriculum has been examined and the philanthropy, whichis more social values than '' Self Value, Self-Confidence, Sociality, Patience,Tolerance, Love, Respect, Peace, Charity, Accuracy, Honesty, Justice,Openness to Newness, Patriotism, Protection of Cultural Values' justice, respect, love, peace, sociality values were created and expert opinions wereapplied. A test form (scale) consisting of final expressions was prepared inline with expert opinions. In the created trial form (scale), a five-point ratingsystem is used in the form of "I absolutely agree", "I agree", "I do not agree","I do not participate" and "I absolutely disagree". Within the scale, thedirective, gender of the participants, branch information were added and atotal of 400 students (trial form / scale) were applied.Participants' responsesto the statements on the test form (prepared scale) were scored and analyzedusing the SPSS 22.0 Package Program. Positive expressions (items) in theprocessing of answers are classified and scored from 5 to 1 towards theexpression "I definitely agree" from the phrase "I definitely do notparticipate". Negative items are classified and scored from 1 to 5 towards theexpression 'I am absolutely agree' from '' Absolutely I do not agree ''. Whenthe final scale is tested, '' construction validity '' method is used. Thereliability of the scale was tested using the Cronbach Alpha internalconsistency coefficient.FindingsThe data related to the 24 expressions in the study were tried to bedetermined by explanatory factor analysis and not to determine the basicfactors that are particularly relevant. In this process, considering the antiimagecorrelation matrix, materials with values above the intersection pointsof 0.5 are taken into account and the items below this value are removed andthe procedure is repeated (Can, 2014). In addition, in order to make sure thatthe items in the prepared scale are not regarded as contiguous with eachother and the factor load value is over 0.45, the transactions were carried out(Büyüköztürk, 2011).When the scale was formed, scale items weredetermined on the basis of positive and negative judgments about socialvalues. Therefore, 2 factors were determined for the scale. Factor 1 containspositive judgments about the social values of the materials collected in thelife information lesson and Factor 2 contains the negative judgments aboutthe social values in the life information lesson. With the results obtained, itturns out that students have appropriate qualifications in determining theperceptions of social values that are being tried to be acquired in the courseof livelihoods.ConclusionIt is believed that researchers and teachers will be helpful in determining theperceptions of social values which primary school students need to acquirein the course of Life Science, which will contribute to the literature in thescope of the study.
