Runik Harfli Türk Yazıtlarında ng Ünsüzü Üzerine

Abstract

The first scripts of Turkish language are written by the runic alphabet. In this study, the changing of the “ij” consonant (shown by one mark in Turkist texts with runic letters) with other consonants is analyzed. Examples in which /g/ is used instead of / ij /on the Bilge Kagan and Kül Tigin monuments had been mentioned in previous studies; but examples from other monuments had not been illustrated. In this paper, these two important monuments are analyzed and in addition, examples from other important Turkish runic monuments in which both /n/ and /g/ are used instead of / ij / are evaluated.  Yrd.
