OKULLARDA KIYAFET SERBESTLİĞİNE İLİŞKİN ÖĞRENCİ GÖRÜŞLERİ1

Özet

Okullarda serbest kıyafet uygulaması, eğitimin bir sorunu olarak varlığını sürdürmektedir. Serbest kıyafeti savunanlar, bu durumu genel özgürlükler içerisinde görerek serbest kıyafeti kendini ifade etme aracı olarak değerlendirmektedirler. Ayrıca tek tip kıyafetin öğrenciye kamuflaj yaptığını ve bu nedenle öğrenci psikolojisinin olumsuz yönde etkilendiğini de düşünmektedirler. Tek tip kıyafeti savunanlar ise serbest kıyafetin sosyoekonomik eşitliği bozacağını ve kimin öğrenci olduğu anlaşılamayacağından okullarda güvenlik sorunu oluşturacağını belirtmektedirler. Bu çalışmanın amacı, öğrencilerin kendilerini yakından ilgilendiren serbest kıyafet uygulaması hakkındaki görüşlerinin belirlenmesidir. Çalışma sonuçları, kıyafet serbestliğinin okullarda oluşturacağı etkileri ortaya koyabilmesi; öğretmen, okul yöneticileri, veliler ve de toplumu bilinçlendirmesi yönüyle oldukça önem taşımaktadır. Betimsel araştırma modelini esas alan bu çalışma ile okullarda öğrencilere, veri toplama aracı olarak açık uçlu üç sorudan oluşan bir anket uygulanmıştır. Anket formunun birinci bölümünde öğrencinin okulu, sınıfı ve cinsiyeti sorulmuştur. Bu bölüme verilen cevaplarla, serbest kıyafet uygulamasına ilişkin kız ve erkek öğrencilerin görüşlerinde farklılık olup olmadığına bakılmıştır. İkinci bölümde yer alan açık uçlu sorularla öğrencilerin okullarda serbest kıyafet uygulamasına nasıl baktıkları, okula serbest kıyafetle gelinmesinin öğrenci üzerinde ne tür etkiler oluşturacağı bilgisine ulaşılmak istenmiştir. Ayrıca okullarda öğrenci için kıyafet serbestliğinin getirilmesinde en büyük engelin kimler ve neler olabileceğine ilişkin bir sorgulama yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin bir bölümünün serbest kıyafet uygulamasına olumlu baktıkları, bir bölümünün de çeşitli nedenlerle olumlu bakmadıkları dolayısıyla öğrencilerin ortak net bir görüşlerinin olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Serbest kıyafet uygulamasının olumlu ve olumsuz görünen yönlerinin daha uzun süre tartışma gündemi oluşturmaya devam edeceği öngörülmektedir.

Abstract

Implementation of freedom of clothing in schools is still being discussed as a problem of education. Advocates of freedom of clothing in schools regard this situation in scope of general freedom and think that it is a tool of self-expression. In addition, they think that the uniform camouflages students, and the students are effected negatively. Advocates of uniform believe that freedom of clothing in schools prevents maintaining socioeconomic equality in schools and causes security problems in schools because identification of students will not be clear. The aim of this study is to determine students’ opinions about implementation of freedom of clothing in schools which closely concerns students. The results of this study are very important with regard to bringing out impacts of freedom of clothing in schools. In this study based on the descriptive research model, an application survey consisting of three open-ended questions was used as a data collection tool. In the first part of the survey, students were asked about their schools, gender and levels. In the second part of the survey it was aimed to get students’ opinions about freedom of clothing in schools and effects of this implementation on the students by asking those open-ended questions. Also what are the biggest obstacle for implementation of freedom of clothing in school were discussed. It was understood that that the students do not have a common opinion about freedom of clothing in schools. It seems that positive and negative aspects of implementation of freedom of clothing in schools will continue to be on the discussion agenda.
