Kültürel Bir Destinasyon Olarak Edirne Yabancı Turist Potansiyelini Belirlemeye Yönelik Bir Tahmin (Forecast) Analizi

Özet
Turistlerin pek çok destinasyona yönelik gerçekleştirdikleri seyahatlerin güçlü bir şekilde kültürle ilişkili olduğu bilinmektedir. Gidilen destinasyonda turistlerin temel seyahat amacı kültür olmasa bile, yapılan seyahatlerinin hemen hemen hepsi en az bir kültürel aktiviteyi içermektedir. 92 yıl Osmanlı İmparatorluğuna başkentlik yapmış olan Edirne, Türkiye’nin kültürel ve tarihi zenginliklerle sayılı şehirlerden biri olmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, gelecek yıllara ilişkin Edirne ilini ziyaret edecek olan potansiyel yabancı ziyaretçilerin sayısını belirleme ve kültürel bir destinasyon olarak Edirne’nin geliştirilmesine yönelik öneriler sunmaktır. Bu amaçla yakın gelecekte Edirne ilini ziyaret edecek potansiyel yabancı turistlerin sayısını belirlemeye yönelik zaman serisi analizleri kapsamında üstel düzleme modeli (exponential smoothing analysis) ile bir tahmin (forecast) analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Gerçekleştirilen analiz sonucunda, Edirne’ye gelen yabancı turist sayısının önümüzdeki yıllar için bir artma eğilimi sergilediğini göstermektedir. Söz konusu bu talep artışı karşısında Edirne’nin kültürel bir destinasyon olarak mevcut durumu değerlendirilerek geleceğe yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur.
Abstract
It is known that many travel which performed by tourists are related to culture strongly. Even if the basic travel purpose of tourists is not culture, almost all of the travels include at least one cultural activity. Edirne which had been the capital of the Ottoman Empire along 92 years is one of the most important cities of Turkey with cultural and historical values. The aim of this study is to determine the number of potential visitors for the future in Edirne and to provide suggestions for the development of Edirne as a cultural destination. For this aim, a forecast analysis has been performed using previous Edirne visitors statistics. In this study, exponential smoothing model which one of the time series analysis was used. In the conclusion of this analysis, it has been demonstrated that for the next three years the number of visitors will increase. In line with these results, current status of Edirne as a cultural destination has been evaluated and suggestions have been presented for the future.
