Abstract
X-rays and gamma rays are used in some of the medicalimaging methods. Medical imaging devices are used by medicalimaging technicians who have graduated from the medicalimaging techniques program within the health services vocationalcolleges of the universities. The education method of graduates isvery important in their professional success. One of these methodsis project-based learning. This study was carried out in order to provide medical imagingtechniques program students with a better understanding of thestructure and working principles of medical imaging devices. Forthis purpose, students are divided into different groups. Each groupchose X-ray, computed tomography, mammography, single photonemission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emissiontomography (PET). Each group searched the literature about thestructure and working principles of the imaging device of theirchoice and designed a model using various materials. At the end ofthe study, all groups were asked about the devices and the answersof the students to the questions were evaluated. It was observedthat the students were more successful than the questions aboutthe devices they made, compared to the questions about the otherdevices.
