Abstract
Purpose: Examination of the effects of changes in body posture on intraocular pressureMaterial-Method: 67 male, 83 female, 150 patients planned for intravitreal injection were evaluated in 150 eyes. Intraocular pressures were measured with contact hand tonometry when the patients were standing, sitting, and lying in the supine position. Patients who had glaucoma, who had an eye surgery, who had a history of ocular drug use, and were unable to provide the relevant body posture were excluded from the studyResults:The mean age of the patients was 66.03 ± 8.36 years. Intraocular pressures were 17.48 ± 3.38 mmHg in standing, 17.24 ± 3.47 mmHg in sitting,19.86±4.55 mmHg in supine position. There was no statistically difference between standing and sitting intraocular pressure (p = 0.103) Supine values were significantly higher than both the standing value and the sitting score (p values 0.001) Conclusion: The intraocular pressures were significantly higher in the supine position than in the standing position and the sitting position.
