FOREIGN TRADE STRUCTURE OF COTTON SECTOR IN TURKEY: COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF SELECTED COUNTRIES

Özet

Bu çalışmanın esas amacı, Türkiye’nin pamuk sektörü dış ticaret yapısını analiz etmektir. Çalışmada 2000-2014 dönemi esas alınmıştır. Çalışmada iki yöntem kullanılmıştır. İlk olarak pamuk sektörünün endüstri-içi ticaret yapısı analiz edilmiştir. İkinci olarak pamuk sektörünün rekabet gücü analiz edilmiştir. Yöntem olarak Grubel Lloyd Endeksi ve kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada sonuç olarak Türkiye’nin pamuk sektöründe görülmüştür. Rekabet gücü analizi sonucunda ise pamuk sektöründe rekabet gücünün yüksek olduğu görülmüştür

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to analyze the structure of the cotton sector in Turkey's foreign trade. 2000-2014 period was used in this study. Two methods were used in this study. Firstly, intra-industry trade structure of the cotton sector was analyzed. Secondly, competitiveness of the cotton sector was analyzed. As a method, Grubel Lloyd Index and Revealed Comparative Advantage Index was used. As a result, it was seen that intra industry trade is high in Turkey’s cotton sector. As a result of the competitive analysis, it was observed that high competitiveness in the cotton sector
