Özet

ÖzBu çalışmada, temel tarihî kaynaklardan biri olan ve 19. yüzyılın ilk yarısında icat edilen fotoğrafın Osmanlı’ya gelişive Yıldız Sarayı Fotoğraf Albümleri Koleksiyonu ele alınmış olup Osmanlı mimarlık tarihi çalışmalarının başvuru kaynaklarındanbirisinin ortaya çıkışı ve bir koleksiyona dönüşmesinin ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır.Fotoğraf; gravür ve resim gibi diğer görsel kayıtlardan farklı olarak anlık bir görüntüyü yakalayıp kalıcı hâle getirmesiyledaha gerçekçi bir niteliğe sahiptir. Nitekim Fransa’da icat edilmesinin hemen sonrasında diğer Avrupa ülkelerinde genişbir ilgiye mazhar olmuştur. Fotoğrafçılıktaki bu gelişme, aynı yıl Takvîm-i Vekāyi’nin 28 Ekim 1839 tarihli ve 186 numaralısayısı ile Osmanlı kamuoyuna tanıtılmıştır. Osmanlı ülkesinin ilk fotoğraflanması da bu yıl içerisinde Fransız fotoğrafçılareliyle gerçekleşmiş ve 19. yüzyıl ortasından itibaren yerli fotoğrafçılar sahneye çıkmıştır. Sultan II. Abdülhamid dönemindeYıldız Sarayı’nda teşekkül edilen ve hem imparatorluğun farklı bölgelerinden hem de dünyanın farklı yerlerindençeşitli temalarda eserleri ihtiva eden fotoğraf koleksiyonu, oluşturuluş biçim ve amacına dair dönemin kaynaklarındanyararlanılarak değerlendirilmiştir.AbstractThis study investigates how photography which was invented in the first half of the 19th century and is one of theprimary historical references, was introduced to the Ottoman Empire and the Collection of Yıldız Palace Photograph Albums.It aims to evaluate how one of the reference guides for the history of Ottoman architecture took place and becamea collection.Different from the other visual recording methods such as engraving and painting, photography has more realisticcharacteristics due to capturing instantaneous images. Thus following its invention in France, it aroused great interest inthe other European countries. This progress in photography was announced to the Ottoman public in the same year via thenewspaper “Takvîm-i Vekāyi” dated October 28, 1839, with issue number 186. That year the first photographs of the OttomanEmpire were shooted by French photographers and as of the mid 19th century local photographers were involved inthe process. The photograph collection which was amassed in Yıldız Palace during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II andconsists of different themed photographs from the various regions and places of both the empire and the world is analyzedusing historical sources in terms of the method and purpose of the collection.
