Abstract
Diatoms, which take part in all the aquatic systems, easy sampling and directly related to the physical and chemical structure of the aquatic ecosystems, are commonly used as bioindicator organisms for evaluating freshwater quality and many diatom indices have been developed for this purpose. Trophic Diaton Index (TDI) and Biological Diatom Index (BDI) provides information about trophic levels of the aquatic ecosystem. In this study, the epipelic diatoms were collected from upstream of Gürleyik Stream in spring season of 2010. As a result, total of 45 species belonging 19 genus were identified and water quality of upstream of Gürleyik Stream were determined as; meso – eutrophic state according to TDI index, mesotrophic state according to BDI index.
