Abstract

Having passed away in 1504 CE, Hüsâmaddin Ali al-Bitlisî compileda tafsir al-ishara named Câmi‘u’t-Tanzîl ve’t-Ta’vîl besides many sufi works.Like many sufis, he also considered that Allah first created the Prophet fromhis‘Nur’ and all other creatures are created from this truth. The sufis have basedtheir ideas on various verses and hadithes which their accuracies arecontroversial in terms of hadith techniques. In this article, al-Bitlisî's views onthis subject will be exemined after some basic information on the origin of theidea of Haqiqat al-Muhammadiyya is provided. Because some previous studieson this subject have already taken the historical course of this subject. So it willbe enough only to point out these studies to avoid falling into repetition.According to our evaluation, al- Bitlisî developed for the first time anunderstanding of Haqîqat al-Murtazawiyya along with the understanding ofHaqiqat al-Muhammadiyya considering the point that Ali was also createdfrom the same ‘Nur’. In this study, this issue will also be covered under aseparate heading.
