Sınıf Öğretmenlerinin Okuma Alışkanlıkları ve Okumaya Karşı Tutumları

Özet

Bu araştırma, sınıf öğretmenlerinin okumaya karşı tutumlarını ve okuma alışkanlıklarını belirlemeyi amaçlamakta ve tarama modelinde betimsel bir nitelik taşımaktadır. Veriler “Okuma Tutum Ölçeği” ile toplanmıştır. Çalışma grubunu 2017-2018 eğitim-öğretim yılında Ankara ili Keçiören ilçesindeki devlet okullarında görev yapan 258 sınıf öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verilerini analiz etmek amacıyla IBM SPSS Statistics 24. 0 istatistik programı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda erkek sınıf öğretmenlerinin kadın sınıf öğretmenlere göre okuma tutum puan ortalamaları belirli oranda yüksek bulunmuştur. Sınıf öğretmenlerinin okuma tutum puanları yaşa göre yüksek oranda bir farklılık göstermemiştir. Sınıf öğretmenlerinin okumayı en fazla tercih ettiği materyaller gazete ve sanat kitapları iken; en az tercih ettikleri materyalin ise mizah dergileri olduğu saptanmıştır. Araştırma sonucuna göre sınıf öğretmenlerinin yaşı ve mesleki kıdemi arttıkça, ayda okudukları kitap sayısı; okuma tutum puanları arttıkça, sahip oldukları ve ayda okudukları kitap sayısının da arttığı belirlenmiştir.

Abstract

This study is a descriptive research in the survey model and aims to identify the reading habits and attitudes of primary school teachers. The data were collected through “Reading Attitude Scale; the study group consists of 258 teachers working in the primary schools of Keçiören township of Ankara” in the 2017-2018 academic year. IBM SPSS Statistics 24.0, statistical analysis software was used for the analysis of data. As a result of the research, it was found that the average reading attitude score of male primary school teachers was to a certain extent higher than that of female primary school teachers. Reading attitude scores of primary school teachers did not show a significant difference in terms of age. The materials which the primary school teachers prefer the most are newspapers, art books and the materials which they prefer the least are humour magazines. The results also show that the number of books that primary school teachers read a month increases as their professional seniority and age increase, and that the number of books that they own and that they read a month increase as their reading attitude scores increase.
