Abstract
It has been nearly three years since the coronavirus started in China and spread throughout the world. In the process, humanity was deeply affected by both the coronavirus and its variance, many people lost their lives and experienced permanent/temporary health problems. World Health Organization has been scientifically stimulating public opinion about the coronavirus and its variants, naming the variants that it thinks will have a profound impact on humanity. The fifth largest variant, defined by the World Health Organization as one of the variations of the coronavirus, emerged in South Africa in november 2021, affected the world and became the global epidemic as the last contagious and resilient variant of COVID-19. The World Health Organization names the major and influential variance that it detects, in turn, the letters of the Greek alphabet. The name Omicron is the last name given after the other four major variance as the fifteenth letter of this alphabet.Although there is a literature about the Omicron variant, which has become a new term in the world, there is still no study in this field in Turkey. Perhaps that's why Omicron’s definition was not made in the printed and electronic dictionaries in Turkey, no writing information was mentioned, no information was accessed. In particular, Omicron’s writing and reading has been left to the secret agreements system. In global pandemics affecting the world, in Turkey and around the world, linguists and microbiologists must work interdisciplinary to prevent the false/incomplete definition, spelling and reading of the public.
