MODERNİZM, KENTLEŞME VE TÜRKİYE

Özet

Günümüzde toplumlar bir değişim süreci içindedir. Her alanda görülmeye başlayanbu değişmenin en önemli sonuçlarından biri kentleşme olayıdır. Yaşanan değişim veyeniden yapılanma sürecinin sonucu olan kentleşme ile birlikte de kentler, ekonomik,sosyal, kültürel, yapısal, ekolojik açılardan yeni özellikler kazanmaktadır. Bu süreç,kentlerin çehresinde köklü değişikliklere neden olmaktadır. Türkiye’de “modernizm”sürecine girilmesiyle, sanayi, tarım, teknoloji, ulaşım, haberleşme vb. alanlarda gelişmelerolmuştur ve bu gelişmeler insanları farklı sebeplerden dolayı kentlere yöneltmiştir.Ancak, tam anlamıyla gelişemeyen ve modernleşemeyen Türkiye, ekonomik gelişmehızından daha fazla kentleştiği için, kentlerinde birçok sorunla karşılaşmıştır. Bunedenle, Türkiye, “kentleşmemiş” ve “kentleşememiş” bir toplumun sıkıntılarıyla karşıkarşıya kalmak zorunda olmuştur.

Abstract

Today, societies are in a process of change. One of the most significant results of thischange that is observed in every area is the urbanization. The cities have obtainednew properties in terms of economic, social, cultural, structural and ecologicalaspects with the urbanization which is the result of the changes and restructuringprocess. This process causes radical changes in the appearance of the cities. InTurkey, with the “modernism” process, there have been some developments in variedareas, such as industry, agriculture, technology, transportation, communications etc.and these developments have led people to cities due to different reasons. However,Turkey, which was unable to develop and modernize in the strict sense according tomodernism standards, has encountered many problems in the cities, as it has startedto urbanize faster than the economic growth rate. Therefore, Turkey has had to facewith the problems of the society which is “non-urbanized” and “failed to urbanize”in the cities.
