Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of high-achieving and low achievingstudents studying at Hacettepe University. The study included 1376 students, 950 femalesand 436 males who enrolled a program at 2013-2014 academicl year. According to findings,females, the ones who accommodate in dormitories, who study at the department they chosebetween their 1st and 4thchoice interval, who are satisfied with their departments, who think they can get a job in 1 year after graduation and who do not work are high-achievers. Thefindings are discussed in the light of literature.
