Özet
Amaç: Bartın Üniversitesi öğrencilerinin sağlık okuryazarlık düzeylerini ve etkileyen faktörleri belirlemektir.
Abstract
Aim: To determine the health literacy levels of university students and the factors affecting them. Method: This cross-sectional study conducted with 3017 students studying at Bartın University. The study completed between April 2020 and March 2021. Data collected with a questionnaire and the Turkish Health Literacy Scale-32. Data collected face-to-face and online. Results: It determined that they had sufficient health literacy levels with an average of 37.80±7.14 points from the TOYS-32 scale. In addition, 38.7% of the students' health literacy levels found to be adequate, 29.6% excellent, 28.5% problematic-limited, and 3.8% insufficient. A statistically significant difference found between the gender of the students, the type of program they studied, the unit, their class level, the monthly income level of the family, the education level of the mother and the THL-32 scale mean score (p<0.05). Conclusion: The study showed that the health literacy levels of the students studying at Bartın University were sufficient. However, it shown that there are students with problematic-limited health literacy levels that need to be taken into account. It revealed that the health literacy levels of the students affected by their age, gender, program and grade level, the income level of their families and the education level of their mothers.
