Abstract

The term between 1923 and 1950, is the period in which the Republic of Turkey was constructed and restructured. The Republican People's Party (CHP), the ruling party of this period, had the power for 27 years. There are various criticisms in the literature related to the politics and social engineering carried out under the leadership as a revolutionary party. One of these criticisms is the mosque policies in the single-party regime. The issue, which has been discussed from the past to the present, has been focused on in this study. However, the study focuses on the mosques used for military purposes or allocated to the other institutions rather than the mosques and prayer rooms that were sold. The mosques used for different purposes between 1920s and 1950s, the evaluations and the legal acts on this issue are discussed in this study.
