Abstract
Goal: The incidence of end stage renal disease (ESRD) causespsycho-social problems on the patients and reduces their lifequality. In this study, our purpose is to determine anxiety, depression and social support states of the hemodialysis patients. Method: We applied Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HAD) and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived SocialSupport (MSPSS) on randomly chosen 85 hemodialysis patients, who are being monitored regularly in our hemodialysiscenter. In this study, we used NCSS 2007 software for statistical analysis. While evaluating data, together with descriptivestatistical methods, we also used one-way analysis of varianceto make comparison among the groups and Tukey multiplecomparative test for sub-groups. Results: Patients group was consisted of 53 males and 32females in this study. The mean age of the group was 56.5±15.2(between 24-81 years). The mean HAD total score of thegroup, who were greater than 60 years old when they werediagnosed as ESRD, was meaningfully greater than the group, who were under 30 years old when they were diagnosed asESRD (p=0.036). The mean HAD total score of the group, which have the illnessfor ≥10 years, was meaning fully greater than the group ofwhich have the illness for
