Cahiliyye’den İslam’a “Sabır” Kavramı

Özet

Sorumlu bir varlık olarak yaratılan insanoğlu, Allah’a kulluk yolunda çeşitli imtihanlara tabi tutulur. Yaşanan bedenî ve nefsî sıkıntılar, hastalıklar zaman zaman maruz kaldığı çeşitli tabiî afetler, toplumsal olaylar onun için hep birer imtihandır. İşte insanın bu tür şartlar altında sınavı kazanabilmesi, onu isyana sürüklemeye çalışan şeytan ve nefsine karşı azimli ve dirençli olmasına bağlıdır. İnsana ağır imtihanlar karşısında dayanma gücü veren vasıfların başında sabır gelmektedir. Bu yüzden öncelikle sabır kavramının doğru anlaşılması gerekir. Bu bağlamda biz, sabır kavramının sözlük, terim, yakın ve zıt anlamlarını ve cahiliyede nasıl bir mahiyet arz ettiğini tespit etmeye çalıştık. Ardından da vahyin ona bu kavrama kazandırdığı yeni içeriği inceledik. Araştırmanın temel hedefi, insan ve toplum için son derece önemli olan sabır kavramının doğru anlaşılmasına bir nebze katkı sunabilmektir.

Abstract

Human being who is created as responsible is subjected to various tests and examinations in the way of servitude to Allah. Physical and sensual difficulties, illnesses, various natural disasters exposed at times and social events are some of the examinations. Accomplishment of human in this test under such circumstances depends on his determination and resistance against the Satan and the self who are driving him to the rebellion. The patience is the first and foremost qualification that gives strength to human being against heavy tests. Therefore, the concept of “Sabr” (patience) must be understand correctly. In this regard, we tried to identify synonyms and acronyms, lexical and terminological meaning of the concept of “Sabr” (patience) and what kind of a nature it had in the period of Jahiliyyah. Then, we examined the new content that the Wahy (revelation) brought to it. The main objective of this paper is to contribute to the proper understanding of the concept of “Sabr” which is of high importance for human and society.
