Abstract
Abstract: William James was the founder of pragmatism which is a practical philosophy. James s pragmatism is a method of philosophy and a world view (weltanschauung) aiming to make sense of human life by practical experience. James argues that the real world is imperfect and it could only be ameliorated by human hands. According to him, this is a moral accountability and people have ability, tendency and freedom to make this. However, for this, at first people need to believe and want. On this way all demands aregood , therefore, a moral. If the person acts to meet the good demands, s/he creates a moral universe that helps to ameliorate both today and the future. Within this context, the pragmatism of James is an ameliorative philosophy that leads person to the good action. The purpose of the study is to examine William James's conception of morality in the context of his pragmatic philosophy and to draw attention to the practical/deeds characteristics of moral.
