Abstract

Widely recognized as a foundational instrument of internationalarbitration, the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcementof Foreign Arbitral Awards is one of the most important and successfulUnited Nations treaties in the area of international trade law. Inorder to promote wider adherence to the Convention and its uniform interpretation and effective implementation, the UNCITRAL secretariatdeveloped a guide on the New York Convention which would mainlyrely on case law interpretation.
