Abstract

This commentary provides an overview of the structure and functioningof the institutional framework for export control regimes in aselected group of countries. It shows that, with the increasing amount ofdual-use goods and technology, which find their civilian as well as militaryapplications, there is an increasing compliance burden placed on thecompanies involved in international sales. The commentary also providesa brief comparison of the institutional frameworks and their practicalsolutions adopted to efficiently balance between the objectives of conflictprevention and trade in goods and technology subject to export restrictions.
