Olgular "ACCP/SCCM konsensüs konferans kriterlerine göre septik komplikasyon gelişmeyenler (A grubu), septik komplikasyon gelişen ve yaşayanlar (B grubu), septik komplikasyon gelişen ve yaşamayanlar (C grubu) olarak 3 gruba ayrıldı. B ve C grubunda plazma pik PCT seviyeleri (45.7 ±24.7 ng/ml) septik komplikasyon gelişmeyen A grubundan (3.1 ± 1.2 ng/ml) anlamlı olarak yüksek bulundu (p

Abstract

Recent studies show that highest levels of procalcitonin (PCT) have been found in septic patients. The aim of this study is to investigate the role of PCT plasma levels at early diagnosis and follow up period in septic burn patients. In 30 patients with 51% (range, 20-90%) TBSA, PCT levels were obtained daily throughout the follow-up period. APACHE II (Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation) scoring system " was used to quantitate the severity of clinical situation. The patients were divided into three groups according to "ACCP/ SCCM Consensus Conference Committee Criteries: Group A; no septic complications, Group B; the survivors with septic complications, and finally Group C; the lost (death) cases who developed septic complications. Peak PCT levels were significantly higher in group B and group C (45.7 ± 24.7 ng/ ml) compared to the patients in group A (3,1 ± 1.2 ng/ml) (p
