Abstract

Hypotonic-hyporesponsive episode is an adverse reaction after childhood immunization. It usually occurs after immunization with pertussis component vaccine. It is characterized by sudden onset of hypotonia, unresponsiveness and change of skin color (paleness or cyanosis) within 48 hour after immunization. Generally, it is a benign, self-limited and nonrecurrent event. Here we report a case with hypotonic-hyporesponsive episode following first dose immunization including diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, hepatitis B and BCG vaccines. In the light of the present case, we review the literature and remind this clinical entity.
