Özet

Tonsillektomi, kulak burun boğaz hekimleri tarafından sık uygulanan ameliyatlardan biridir. Ameliyat bölgesinin cerrahi girişimlere kolayca izin vermeyecek yerde olması sebebiyle işlem sırasında veya sonrasında birçok komplikasyon ile karşılaşmak olasıdır. Servikofasiyal subkutan amfizem baş-boyun bölgesindeki fasiyal planlar arasında çeşitli nedenlerden dolayı hava bulunmasıdır. Travmatik, iyatrojenik veya spontan gelişebilir. Bu yazıda, kliniğimize sık tonsillit ve horlama şikayeti ile başvuran 4 yaşındaki erkek hastaya yapılanadenotonsillektomi sonrası gelişen, sadece maksillofasiyalbölgeye yayılım gösteren subkutan amfizem olgususunulmuştur. Ek olarak, güncel literatür dikkatealınarak tedavi stratejileri tartışılmıştır.

Abstract

Tonsillectomy is one of the surgical procedures that are frequently performed by ear, nose, and throat surgeons. The procedure is associated with many intraoperative and postoperative complications, and the nature of the operation site hampers surgical interventions. Cervicofacial subcutaneous emphysema is characterized by the presence of air within the fascial planes of the head-neck region because of various reasons. It may develop iatrogenically or spontaneously because of trauma. Herein, we report a 4-year-oldmale patient who presented to our clinic with complaintsof frequent tonsillitis and snoring and who developedsubcutaneous emphysema involving only themaxillofacial region following tonsillectomy. In addition, treatment strategies have been discussed, takingcurrent literature into account.
