Parotis Apsesine Bağlı Yüz Felci: Alışılmadık bir Komplikasyon

Özet
Fasiyal sinir felci, sıklıkla parotis malign neoplazmlarıile ilişkili bir durumdur. Glandda, enflamasyon veya enfeksiyongibi benign durumlardan kaynaklanan fasiyalsinir felci nadirdir. Acil medikal tedavi ile birlikte cerrahi,asıl tedaviyi oluşturur ve bu hastaların çoğunun izlemindesinir paralizisi iyilesir. Burada, diabet ve hipertansiyonuolmayan, odinofaji, sol parotis bezinde şişlikve fasiyal sinir felci ile başvuran 50 yaşında kadın hastasunuldu. Parafarengeal bölgeye uzanan parotis apsesinedeniyle gelişen fasiyal sinir felci tanısı konuldu. Yüzfelcinin iki ay içinde tamamen iyileştiği gözlendi.
Abstract
Facial nerve palsy is usually associated with a malignantparotid neoplasm; it is highly unusual for it to result froma benign situation, such as inflammation or infection ofthe parotid gland. Surgery along with prompt medicaltreatment is the mainstay, and in the majority of the patients,nerve paralysis recovers in the follow-up period.We report a case of a 50-year-old non-diabetic non-hypertensivefemale who presented with odynophagia,left-sided parotid swelling, and left facial nerve palsy. Thediagnosis of facial nerve palsy due to a parotid abscessextending to the parapharyngeal space was made. Facialpalsy fully recovered within 2 months.
