Abstract
Tyroglossal duct cyst (TDC) arises from the remnantthyroglossal duct tract as a cystic expansion. Patientsmost commonly present with a palpable cystic cervicalmidline mass or drainage from a cervical sinus opening.TDC is the most common congenital head and neck le- sion in children and adults, but endolaryngeal extensionis a rare entity. Te treatment of TDC is excision of thecyst and the whole sinus tract with the central part of the hyoid bone, described by Sistrunk. It is necessary topreserve the thyrohyoid membrane and thyrohyoid peri-chondrium of the thyroid cartilage in cases with endola-ryngeal extension. In this report, a case of TDC withendolaryngeal extension is presented with diagnosis andmanagement modalities.
