Özet
Genlerin ve çevresel faktörlerin ma-Ioklu/yon oluşumuna ne kaçlar etki ettikleri, ortodonti literatüründe uzun yıllar boyunca tartışma konusu olmuştur. Maloklüzyonların biyolojileri çoğunlukla multifaktöriyeldir ve son yıllarda biyolojik faktör olarak heredirenin üzerinde sıklıkta durulmaktadır. Herhangi bîr bireyde, mevcut olan dentofasial detormitenin oluşumunda genlerin ya da çevresel faktörlerin etkisi ayırt edilebilirse, malokluz-vonun etiyolojisi ve tedavi edilebilirliği hakkında daha kesin bilgiler elde edilecektir. Problem genetik ise, ortodontistler yapabilecekleri ya da değiştirebilecekleri konusunda kısıtlanabilirler. Bu derlemenin amacı dentofasial yapıların' genetik ve çevresel etkenlerden ne ölçüde ve nasıl etkilendiğinin'anlatıImasıdır. (Türk Ortodonti Dergisi 2009;22:166-180)
Abstract
The relative influence of genes and environmental factors in the aetiology of malocclusion has been a matter for discussion throughout many years in the orthodontic literature. The aetiology of malocclusion is mostly multifactoriel and heredity is being stressed as an aetiologic factor in recent years. More precise information will be gained on the aetiology of malocclusion and its treatibiiity, if we can differentiate the effect of genes and environment on the dentofaçial deformity in a particular individual, if the problem is genetic, orthodontists will be restricted about what they can do or what they can change: The purpose of this review is to explain to what degree and how the dentofaçial structures will be influenced by genetic and environmental factors.
