Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate the effects of glaucoma and its therapy on graft survival after penet-rating keratoplasty. Material and methods: Eight hundred and seventy-six penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) cases were evaluated retrospectively. The effects of glaucoma and its therapy on immune reaction and graft survival were investigated with a mean follow up of 28.3 months. Results: The overall incidence of glaucoma after PKP was 11.6% (102 eyes). Of the glaucoma patients, 53 (52%) were treated medically and 49 (42%) necessitated surgical treatment.2.9 (59.2%) eyes required additional topical antiglaucoma medications after glaucoma surgery. Immune reactions had similar incidence in patients with and without glaucoma. But, the rate of graft failure after immune reactions was higher in patients with glaucoma (66.6%) than in those without glaucoma (19.4%) (p
