Özet
Amaç: Örnek bir popülasyonda gözün refraktif durumu ile yüksek kan basıncı arasındaki ilişkiyi ortaya çıkarmak. Yöntem: Genel dahiliye ve hipertansiyon kliniğine başvuran hastalardan esansiyel hiper-tansiyonlu 321 olgu (ortalama yaş: 53.9 ± 15.4; 22-84 yaş arası) ile esansiyel hipertansiyonu olmayan 188 kontrol olgusu (ortalama yaş: 50.9 ± 7.3; 20-78 yaş arası); toplam 509 hasta çalışma kapsamına alındı. Esansiyel hipertansiyon tanı kriterleri olarak "Joint National Commitee 7. No'lu Rapor Kriterleri (JNC VII)" kullanıldı.
Abstract
Purpose: To quantify the relationship between the refractive state of the eye and high blood pressure in a representative population. Methods: 321 cases with essential hypertension (mean age: 53.9 ± 15.5; range: 22-84 years) and 188 control cases without essential hypertension (mean age: 50.9 ± 7.3; range: 20-78 years) admitting to general medicine and hypertension outpatient clinics were randomly involved in the study. Essential hypertension was diagnosed according to Joint National Committee Seventh Report (JNC VII). The refractive state of the eyes was identified objectively by an au-torefractometer and retinoscopic examination. Spheric equivalents between -0.50 (included) and +0.50 (included) were regarded as emmetropia. Values below or above this interval were regarded as either myopia or hypermetropia. Mean spheric equivalents of the groups were compared using Student t test; distributions of refraction were compared with chi-square test. Results: The mean spheric equivalent of the cases with essential hypertension was +0.88 ± 1.34 D (range: -3.75- +6.38), while The mean spheric equivalent of the control cases was -0.26 ± 1.12 D (range: -5.00- +3.38) (p
