Abstract

Nanophthalmos is a congenital disease which is characterized by short axial lenght and thickened sclera. Nonrhegmatogenous retinal detachment develops due to increased resistance to transscleral outflow. A 51-year-old patient applied to our service due to decrease vision in her left eye and retinal detachment which was related to nanophthalmos was noticed. Subscleral sclerectomy was performed at the equator in the inferiortemporal and infcriornasal quadrants. Two months after surgery, retinal detachment reattached. In this study, it was seen that subscleral sclerectomy was effective in the treatment of retinal detachment due to nanophthalmos.
