Çalışmada genel olarak; arşivlerin toplumsal rolü, bu rolü ortaya çıkaran ve et-kileyen etkenler ve genel olarak bu rolün geçmişten günümüze değişiminde gözlenen eğilimler yansıtılmaya çalışılmaktadır. Çalışmada çağdaş uygarlığın geli-şiminde modern kurumların ve buna bağlı ilişkilerin değişimi, belirli bir kurum ve hizmet sektörü baz alınarak değerlendirilmektedir. Çalışma, Batı'da Aydınlanma Hareketi'nden, 1798 Fransız Devrimi'ne kadar olan dönemi kapsamaktadır. Çalışmada, ilgili dönemlerde gerçekleşen sosyal değişimler ve bu değişimlerde arşivlerin rolü incelenmektedir.

Abstract

This study aims to explore such issues as the social role of archives, how this ro-le emerged and what f actors impacted it, along with the change of social role of archives from the past to the present. By taking archives as a case in point, it dis-cusses the role of modern institutions, and the change of subsequent relationship among them, in the development of the contemporary civilization. The article.co-vers from the period of the Enlightenment to 1789 French Revolution, and inves-tigates the process of social transformation and the role of archives in this process throughout these periods
