Coil embolization of a traumatic arteriovenous fistula of the lower extremity

Özet

Arteriyovenöz (AV) fistüller arter ve ven sistemi ara- sında normal anatomik kapiller yatağı baypas eden anor- mal bağlantılardır. Biz bu olguda penetran yaralanmayabağlı olarak alt ekstremitede AV fistül gelişen bir hastasunduk. Arteriyovenöz fistül tanısı Doppler ultrasonografiile konuldu. Tanısal kateterizasyonda sol arteriya profundaile sol femoral ven arasında yüksek akımlı ve derin femoralvende 9x4 cm çapında anevrizma oluşturan AV fistül gösterildi. Arteriyovenöz fistül başarılı şekilde koil ile tıkanarakkapatıldı.

Abstract

Arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) are unusual con- nections between the arterial and venous system that by- pass the normal anatomic capillary beds. This case reportpresents an arteriovenous fistula of the lower extremitycaused by a penetrating injury. The patient was diagnosedby Duplex ultrasonography. Diagnostic catheterization ofthe affected limb showed a high-flow AVF between the leftprofunda femoris artery and left femoral vein with a deepfemoral vein aneurysm measuring 9x4 cm. The AVF wassuccessfully treated with coil embolization.
