Özet

Sokak gocuklan, gelismis ve geli§mekte olan illkelerin buyuk kentlerinin onemli toplumsal sorunlartndandir. Ugucu madde ve Hag kullanimlan, temizlik aliskanliklannin olmamasi bu gocuklarda ge§itli infeksiyonlara karsi duyarhhgi arttirmaktadir. Bu gahsmada, Izmir'de ya§ayqn ve gogunlugunun ugucu madde bagimhhgi-nin oldugu 58 sokak gocugu, hepatit ve edinsel immunyetmezlik sendromu (AIDS) gibi toplum saghgini tehdit eden hastahklan ta§ima oranlart ara§tmldi. Abstract

Homeless children are one of the important sociological problems of the big cities of developing or developed countries. Abusement of volatile intoxicant and drugs, bad hygienic conditions have been increasing the liabi¬lity to several infections. In this study, 58 homeless children who live in Izmir and (majority of whom are the volatile intoxicant abuser) was included for the examination of some life threatening infections like AIDS and Hepatitis. The mean age of children was 14.3 ranging between 9 and 21 years. 74.2 percentage of children was in the age group of 13-16. The average duration of being homeless was 29 months (minimum 1 month-maximum 108 months). There was a significant correlation between age and duration of being homeless. Ni¬nety seven of the children were habitual volatile substance (like thinner, Derby-Bally adhesives) were ranging from 1 to 108 months (averagely. 18 months).
