Balkan Milliyetçiliğinin Türk Eğitim Düşüncesine Etkileri

Özet

19. yüzyılda Avrupa da yayılmaya başlayan milliyetçilik, bir taraftan milli devletlerin doğuşuna yol açarken, diğer taraftan çok uluslu imparatorlukların yıkılmasına neden olmuştur. Çok uluslu Osmanlı İmparatorluğu da milliyetçi akımlardan etkilenmekte gecikmemiştir. Osmanlı İmparatorluğunda milliyetçilik, ilk dönemlerde Balkanlarda gayri Müslim azınlıkların faaliyetleri çerçevesinde şekillenmiştir. Bu çalışmada Balkan ulusları arasında yayılmaya başlayan milliyetçiliğin Türk eğitim düşüncesine etkileri incelenmiştir. Balkan milliyetçiliği, Osmanlı vatandaşlarına yönelik eğitim anlayışının, Türklük bilincini ve kimliğini ön planda tutan bir “milli eğitim” anlayışına dönüşmesine ve “milli seçkinler” yetiştirme düşüncesinin doğuşuna etki etmiştir.

Abstract

Nationalism, which started to spread in Europe in the 19th century, caused foundation of national states on the one hand but fall of the empires with many nations on the other. It was not so late that the multinational Ottoman Empire had been affected by nationalistic movements. In the early periods, nationalism in the Ottoman Empire was shaped through the activities of non-Muslim minorities in the Balkans. In this study, the effects of the Balkans nationalism on Turkish education thought were investigated. The Balkans nationalism affected the transformation of the thought of education directed to the citizens of the Ottoman Empire and the birth of the thought of educating “national elites.”
