Echinococcosis, günümüzde gelişmekte olan ülkelerde en önemli sağlık problemlerinden biridir. Türkiye'nin de içinde olduğu bazı ülkelerde endemik olarak görülür. Hidatid kist başlıca karaciğer ve akciğer gibi organlarda yerleşir. Albendazol, hidatid hastalığının sistemik tedavisinde kullanılan en etkili ajanıdır. Bu çalışmada albendazol sülfoksid (ALSF)'in Echinococcus granulosus protoskolesleri üzerine invitro etkisi araştırıldı, Çalışmada doğal infekte sığır hidatid kistlerinden elde edilen hidatid kist sıvısı kullanıldı. Kist sıvısı bir saat bekletilerek kist kumu elde edildi. Abstract

Echinococcosis is an important healthy problem in developing countries today. Echinococcosis is endemic in many countries including Turkey. Hydatid cysts may occur in any of the viscera, particularly in the liver and lungs. Albendazole is, at present, the most effective agent in the systemic treatment of hydatid disease. In this study, the effect of albendazole sulphoxide (ALS) was tested on scolices of Echinococcus granulosus, in .vitro. We used hydatid cystic liquid obtained from naturally infected bovine hydatid cysts in this study. The cystic liquid was left to precipitate for an hour to obtain cystic sand. Solutions containing 50 $mu$g/ml and 100 $mu$g/ml of ALSF were prepared. The scolices were mixed with both solutions of ALSF 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 45, and 60 minutes.
