Özet

Bu çalışmada önemli bir sivrisinek üreme alanı olan foseptik sularında, juvenil hormon analoğu olan Pyriproxyfen'in, Culex pipiens larvalarını kontrolü araştırılmıştır. Gecekondu ve apartman foseptiklerinde yapılan çalışmalar sonucunda Pyriproxyfen'in gecekondu foseptiklerinde, apartman foseptiklerine oranla daha uzun süreli etkili olduğu bulunmuştur. Gecekondu foseptiklerinde 28. güne kadar etkin bir kontrol sağlanırken, apartman foseptiklerinde 14. gün ve sonrasında ölüm oranlarında belirgin bir düşüş ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu durum, gecekondu foseptiklerine göre apartman foseptiklerine bırakılan atık su miktarı fazlalığından dolayı, Pyriproxyfen'in konsantrasyonun azalmasından kaynaklanmakladır.

Abstract

In this study, the use of a juvenile hormone analogue, Pyriproxyfen, to control Culex pipens larvae in septic tanks, that are important mosquito reproduction areas, was analyzed. The results showed that the efficacy of Pyriproxyfen lasted longer in the septic tanks of squatter's houses than in those of apartments. The efficacy of Pyriproxyfen, lasted only 14 days after exposure in the apartment septic tanks, but in the squatters' septic tanks, it continued until the 28th day alter exposure. We deduced that such a difference in the duration of efficacy might arise from the fact that wastewater discharges collected in septic tanks of apartments are remarkably larger than those of the squatters' houses thus causing more dilution in the concentration of Pyriproxyfen.
