Abstract

The eggs of Coreus marginatus (Linneaus, 1758) were observed with light and scanning electron microscopes. The females were collected from Çubuk province (Ankara, Turkey) and maintained under laboratory condition. Eggs were laid singly in cotton batting and were usually well seperated from each other. The elongated-shaped eggs are in average 1.72±0.01 mm long and 1.08+0.01 mm wide. Eggs were golden yellow color at deposition but changed to brown after embriyonic development. On the egg surface, variable shaped polygons are clearly seen by a scanning electron microscope. There is ring of widely seperated aero-micropylar tubercles round and anterior pole. These do not project inwards. The well-marked operculum intersects the ring of micropyles. They have 12-15 micropylar projections. The hatching line is cracked in a circular shape by egg burster.
