The distribution and rates of occurence of predatory insect species in peach orchards of Izmir province

Abstract
Abstract: In this study, predatory insects a ssociated with peach orchards of Selçuk, Tire,Kemalpaşa, Torbalı and Menemen counties of Izmir province were determined during theperiod 2004- 2005. For this purpose, a total of 402 samples were taken from different peachorchards at one month intervals from April through October vegetation period. As a resultof the studies, a total of 51 predaceous insect species belonging to 8 families and 4 orderswere recorded. The most abundant predaceous insects were Stethorus gilvi frons Mulsant,Scymnus subvillosus (Goeze), Coccinella septempunctata (L.), Propylaeaquatuordecimpunctata (L.), Chilocorus bipustulatus (L.) ve Hippodamia variegata (Goeze) (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae), Chrysoperla carnea (Stephens) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae),Orius niger (Wolff) (Heteroptera: Anthocoridae) and Aeolothrips intermedius Priesner(Thysanoptera: Aeolothripidae) in all counties where samplings were conducted.
