Özet
Amaç: Boğazlıyan ve çevresinde yaşayan nüfusta buşon görülmesıklığını, buşon olgularının bazı klinik ve demografik özelliklerinitespit etmek.Yöntem: Mayıs 2012-Mayıs 2013 tarihleri arasında Kulak BurunBoğaz polikliniğine başvuran ve otoskopik değerlendirme yapılan8203 hasta çalışmaya alındı. Buşon birikiminin varlığı ve etkilenenkulak saptandı; yaşa ve cinsiyete göre irdelendi. Buşon dışında yabancı cisimlerle ilgili bilgiler de kayıt edildi.Bulgular: 8203 hastanın 1123ünde (%13.7) buşon tespit edildi.Buşon prevalansı 18 yaş altında %10.2, 18-65 yaş grubunda %13.0ve 65 yaş üstü hastalarda %23.2 olarak saptandı. Yaş arttıkça buşon görülme sıklığı artmaktaydı (p0.05).Dış kulak yolunda yabancı cisim görülme yıllık prevalansı %0.9 olarak hesaplandı.Sonuç: Devlet Hastanesi KBB polikliniğine başvuran hastalar bağlamında Boğazlıyan ve çevresinde buşon görülme sıklığı %13.7dir.Yaş ilerledikçe buşon görülme sıklığı artmaktadır.
Abstract
Objective: To determine the frequency of cerumen and some clinical and epidemiological features of cerumen cases in Boğazlıyan area.Methods: 8203 people attending to Ear Nose and Throat outpatientclinic, and underwent otoscopic examination between May 2012and May 2013 were included in the study. The existence of cerumenimpaction and affected side were recorded and analysed accordingto age and gender. Additionally, foreign bodies were also recorded.Results: Cerumen was detected in 1123 patients (13.7%). The fre-quency of cerumen was 10.2% among patients younger than 18years old, 13.0% between 18-65 years old and 23.2% amongpatients older than 65 years old. There was positive correlationbetween the frequency of cerumen and age. The cerumens wereunilateral in 573 patients (51%) and bilateral in 550 patients (49%).Of unilateral cerumens 52.9% were in the right ear and 47.1% inthe left ear. However there was no statistically significant differencebetween two ears. The frequency of foreign body in the externalauditory canal was detected as 0.9%.Conclusions: The frequency of cerumen has been detected as13.7% in Boğazlıyan area among the patients attended to EarNose and Throat outpatient clinics of State Hospital. The frequency of cerumen increases with increased age.
