Özet
Girifl: Bu çal›flman›n amac›, prostat kanseri taramalar›na kat›l›mda engel alg›s› ile iliflkili olabi- lecek faktörleri incelemektir.
Abstract
Introduction: The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that are related to the barrier perception in attending prostate cancer screenings. Materials and Method: Data of this cross-sectional study was collected in 2010. Data was collected from individuals aged 60 and above in the Region of Bülbül Family Health Center. The sample group of the study comprised of 211 individuals. A personal information form and the 15-item barrier perception sub-scale of the Health Belief Model for prostate cancer screenings were used to collect data for this study. In this study, individuals who were illiterate, had no health insurance, lived in a district or village, had never experienced a problem with their prostate, had never undergone a prostate examination, had never had a Prostate- Specific Antigen (PSA) test, and would not be attending a prostate cancer screening in the future had a higher level of barrier perception. There was no significant difference in the barrier per- ception sub-scale score based on other variables. Conclusion: Study results concluded that demographic factors (education level, health insur- ance, etc.) and having received prostate-related health services in.
