THE EFFECT OF OBESITY ON MORTALITY IN GERIATRIC PATIENTS FOLLOWED IN THE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

Abstract

Introduction: This study was intended to evaluate the relationship between the presence of obesity in geriatric patients, which is becoming more and more common in the intensive care unit, with the intensive care process and mortality. Materials and Method: In this retrospective study, data on 2,114 patients aged 65 and over who were followed in the intensive care unit between January 2013-January 2020 were obtained electronically and evaluated. Results: Patients were divided into two groups of 1,632 (77.2%) nonobese and 482 (22.8%) obese patients.
