Özet

Bu makalede, 1844-1845 yılları arasında Rumeli Eyaletine bağlı ve günümüzde Tetova olarak isimlendirilen Kalkandelende sakin olan tüfekçiler ve bunların sosyo-ekonomik durumları tespit edilmiştir. Kalkandelen Kazasında bulunan 50 farklı esnaf-zanaatkâr meslek grubu içinde, ezici çoğunluğu tüfekçi esnafı ve zanaatkârı oluşturmaktadır. Bu çer- çevede tüfekçi esnafının nüfusu, üretim yapısı; tarımsal işletmelerinin nitelikleri, tarımsal verimlilik ve diğer gelir kaynakları gibi sosyo-ekonomik durumları hakkında önemli bilgiler ortaya konmuştur. Öte yandan devletin uygulamaya koyduğu silah üretim yasağı, bölge esnafını olumsuz anlamda etkilemiş ve bu nedenle bir kısım Kalkandelen tüfekçi esnafı İstanbulda tophane fabrikalarında istihdam edilmeye çalışılmıştır.

Abstract

In this article, the rifle-makers living in Kalkandelen (called Tetova at the present time) in Rumelian Principality between 1844-1845 including rifle-makers socio-economic status was investigated. The rifle-makers constituted the majority among 50 different craft groups in Kalkandelen. In this context, a great deal of important information about the socio-economic status of the rifle-makers such as; the population, type of manufacturing, the characteristics of agricultural enterprise, agricultural productivity and other sources of income has been revealed. On the other hand,the local craftsmen were affected negatively by the embargo on the rifle manufacturing imposed by the government. Because of this reason, some rifle-makers from Kalkandelen tried to be employed in armoury factories in Istanbul.
