Özet
Serebellar mutizm, posterior fossa cerrahisinin nadir görülen komplikasyonlarındandır. 11 yaşında bayan olgu vermian bölge lokalizasyonlu tümör nedeniyle ameliyat edildi. Olguda ameliyattan 24 saat sonra başlayan ve yedi gün devam eden mutizm tablosu gelişti. Olgunun histopatolojik tanısı epandimom olarak geldi. Burada olgunun klinik ve laboratuvar bulguları literatür bilgilerinin ışığı altında tartışılmaktadır.
Abstract
Cerebellar mutism is a rare complication of posterior fossa surgery. The pathological condition (edema or ischemia), caused by surgical trauma (agressive tumor resection, traction or vasospasm) affecting dentatotalamocortical tract may result in cerebellar mutism. This is transient and not tumor spesific condition. We present the case of a 11 years old girl who had headache and vomiting. CT scan showed a large posterior fossa tumor. The patient underwent surgery and the mass was removed totally. Mutism developed 24 hours after the surgery and lasted 7 days. The histopathological diagnosis was a ependimoma.
