Özet
Amaç: Akademik anesteziyoloji kliniği çalışanlarında Helicobacter pylori prevalansını ve ilişkili olabilecek epidemiyolojik faktörleri saptamayı amaçladık.Gereç ve Yöntem: Onayları alındıktan sonra 37 anesteziyoloji çalışanı çalışmaya dahil edildi, kan örnekleri alındı, katılımcılara yaş, cinsiyet, mesleki çalışma süresi (1-5 yıl, 5-15 yıl, 15 yıl üzeri), dispepsi şikayetleri ve son ayda H2 reseptör blokeri ve proton pompa inhibitörü kullanımının sorgulandığı anket dolduruldu. Helicobacter pylori'ye karşı Ig G antikorları enzim linked immunosorbent assay (ELİSA) testi ile değerlendirildi.Bulgular: Katılımcıların 21'i hekim, 16'sı anestezi teknisyeni idi.
Abstract
Aim: We aimed to determine the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori and associated risk factors in personnel of an academic anaesthesiology department.Materials and Methods: After obtaining informed consent 37 anaesthesia personnel were studied, blood sample were obtained and each participants completed a questionnaire describing baseline demographics including age, gender, time in clinical practice (1-5 years, 5-15 years, over 15 years), history of dyspepsia, use of H2 receptor blockers and proton pump inhibitors during the previous month. The presence of Ig G antibodies against Helicobacter pylori was determined by using the enzyme linked immunosorbent assay method. Results: Twenty-one physicians and 16 anaesthesia technicians were studied. Sixteen subjects of the physicians (76 %) and 13 of the anaesthesia technicians (81 %) had antibodies to Helicobacter pylori (p>0.05). No association could be shown between seropositivity for Helicobacter pylori and epidemiologic factors. Seropositivity for Helicobacter pylori were 80 %, 75 %, and 67 % in physicians group with 1 to 5 years, 5 to 15 years and over 15 years of occupational exposure, respectively. Seropositivity in the anaesthesia technicians group were 73 %, 100 %, and 100 % with 1 to 5 years, 5 to 15 years and over 15 years of experience, respectively (p>0.05).Conclusion: This study showed the importance of Helicobacter pylori infection and vector carriage. In addition to this, it proved that these are not related with epidemiologic risk factors in anaesthesia personnel.
