Özet

Bu çalışma, Sevim Ak’ın çocuk romanlarındaki toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin nasıl yansıtıldığının belirlenmesini amaçlamıştır. Bu amaç kapsamında incelenen kitaplarda yer alan farklı cinsiyetlerdeki karakterlerin yaptıkları iş ve mesleklerin; yaptıkları ev işlerinin ve karakterlerin kişilik özelliklerinin nasıl yansıtıldığı sorularına yanıt aranmıştır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Yazarın on altı çocuk romanı araştırmanın çalışma grubunu oluşturmuştur Veriler, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi yoluyla toplanmış, betimsel olarak çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonunda elde edilen bulgulara göre kadın karakterler hemşire, öğretmen, sekreter, terzi, kuaför… gibi iş ve meslek grupları içinde gösterilirken erkek karakterler de geleneksel toplumsal cinsiyet algısına göre doktor, polis, tamirci, denizci, esnaf… gibi iş ve meslekler içinde yansıtılmıştır. Kitaplarda farklı cinsiyetlerdeki karakterlerin ev işlerini paylaşma sorumluluğu göz önüne alındığında ev işlerinden genellikle annenin ya da evde bulundan kadının sorumlu olduğu alışveriş, tamirat gibi işleri ise erkek karakterlerin yaptığı belirlenmiştir. Kitaplarda kadın karakterler edilgen, utangaç, merhametli, geveze, kıskanç, duygusal ve meraklı gibi toplumsal cinsiyet algısını yansıtır kişilik özelliklerinde çizilirken bazı kadın karakterler de öfkeli, anlayışsız, merhametsiz ve cesur olarak gösterilmiştir. Erkek karakterler için de durum böyledir. Kavgacı, sinirli, otoriter, kıskanç ve güçlü gibi toplumsal cinsiyet algısına yönelik kişilik sergileyen erkek karakterlerin yanında neşeli, sakin, duygusal ve meraklı gibi kişilik özelliği gösteren karakterler de kitaplarda yer almıştır. Araştırmanın sonunda yazarın karakterlerini oluştururken toplumsal cinsiyet algısına bağlı olarak oluşturduğu ve yansıttığı söylenebilir.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how social gender roles are reflected in Sevim Ak’s children’s novels.Answers were sought to the questions of how work and professions of characters of different genders in thenovels examined within the scope of this purpose, and how personality characteristics of their household tasksand characters are reflected. In the research, qualitative research method was employed. Sixteen children’snovels by the author made up the study group of the research. The data were collected by means documentanalysis method from qualitative research methods, and findings were analyzed descriptively. According tothe findings obtained at the end of the research, while female characters were reflected within professionalgroups such as nurses, teachers, secretaries, tailors etc., male characters were reflected in business andprofessional groups such as doctors, police, mechanics, sailors, tradesmen according to the traditional genderperception. Given the responsibility of sharing household chores for characters of different genders in thesenovels, it was determined that the mother or the woman who is in the house is usually responsible for householdchores, while male characters do things such as shopping and repairs. In these novels, while female characterswere drawn in personality traits that reflect gender perception such as passive, shy, compassionate, chatty,jealous, emotional and curious, while some female characters were shown to be angry, inconsiderate, ruthlessand courageous. That was also the case with male characters. In addition to male characters who exhibitedpersonality towards social gender perception, such as brawling, angry, authoritarian, jealous and powerful,characters with personality traits such as cheerful, calm, emotional and curious were also depicted in thesebooks. As a result of the research, it can be said that the author created and reflected his characters based onsocial gender perception.
